The Crocker Art Museum is thrilled to be the recipient of a $50,000 grant through U.S. Bank’s Community Possible Grant Program. Through U.S. Bank’s generous support, the Crocker is better positioned to remove barriers to expression, play, and creativity — fostering a sense of inclusiveness for all residents of the region.
The Crocker Art Museum is the 69th largest art museum in North America, with world class exhibitions and permanent collections, though its identity extends beyond fine art. The Crocker is located in the Sacramento Promise Zone, a federally designated, high-poverty, urban area in need of resources, administrated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. With a mission to promote an awareness of and enthusiasm for human experience through art as its foundation, and support from organizations like U.S. Bank, the Museum has created a network of educational and interactive programs reaching outside the Museum walls to boost artistic and cultural development.
U.S. Bank has awarded this grant to the Crocker due to the Museum’s longstanding reputation as a leader in serving the community. This crucial partnership with U.S. Bank has since 1992 helped enable the Crocker to expand and broaden the scope of its offerings to provide opportunities for learning and play through art in under-served communities, and to promote the belief that play is just as necessary for adults as for children. We couldn’t agree more.
"Play brings joy, stimulates creativity and innovation, helps with problem solving, and builds relationships. It is critical to learning and development, health, and creating a focus on the common good in diverse communities."
Pamela Maxwell
Vice President and Community Development Manager at U.S. Bank

The Crocker's Art Ark is a mobile art education center designed for students in pre-K through 8th grades, and brings original works of art and activities to schools throughout the region.
Every week enjoy Wee Wednesday, for children ages 3 to 5. Children enjoy story time and view artwork through hands-on experiences that encourage visual literacy, social confidence, and critical thinking.
On Sunday, November 19th, the museum hosts a special edition of Wonder Lab, celebrating the grand opening of the Crocker’s fourth interactive Art Spot, Wingding. Enjoy drop-in art-making activities and hands-on play. Children with learning and developmental disabilities and their families are especially invited.
