On August 31, the Crocker will launch the first in a series of community discussions on the state of humanity, current events, and contemporary issues in art and culture, and we hope you'll join us.
Designed to bring ideas and people together in respectful dialogue, Conversations that Matter is an inclusive series that invites the region's best thinkers, creatives, and discussants to offer diverse perspectives. The Fem Dems of Sacramento and Barkada will kick off this inaugural community dialogue with the topic of feminism, communication, and privilege.
While hosting these community discussions is new to the Crocker, the concept is rooted in the Museum’s mission to promote an awareness of and enthusiasm for human experience through art.
“While this program isn’t necessarily art-centric, art is about sharing ideas, and we would like the Crocker to be place where people can engage in open, and perhaps difficult conversations where different ideas are shared, and dialogue is encouraged.”

On November 30, the Crocker will host the second discussion in the series, this time in collaboration with California Groundbreakers, who will be discussing the state of Downtown after the building of the Golden 1 Arena.
The Conversations that Matter series will be held in the Crocker Art Museum’s Friedman Court on 5th Thursdays. Dinner and drinks can be purchased in the Crocker Cafe by Supper Club.
These community discussions are free for Crocker members and just $10 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is highly recommended.
