Ruth Rippon
Thanks to artist Ruth Rippon’s extensive contributions to the world of ceramics, this statement is even more true today. Rippon’s appreciation for beauty in all forms is evident throughout Exuberant Earth: Ceramics by Ruth Rippon, on view at the Crocker until February 4.
Rippon has an eye for the beauty of the natural world that both captures the essence of and elevates her subject. Whether it’s sinuous fish adorning serving plates, or a crustacean-inspired casserole dish, art and nature seamlessly converge in this diverse exhibition of 90 works spanning four decades of Rippon’s influential and awe-inspiring career.
This exhibition and its catalogue are made possible through generous support from Creative Arts League Sacramento (CALS), an organization co-founded by ten women in 1952 to bring outstanding works of local contemporary artists to the community. Ruth Rippon joined CALS in 1957 and, 60 years later, she is still a prominent member of the organization.
Exuberant Earth leaves the Crocker on Feb. 4, so don’t miss your chance to see Rippon’s beautifully crafted world.
