The Crocker Art Museum is looking for artists to submit works for the upcoming Art Auction Season-- a highly anticipated Sacramento tradition. Last year’s virtual and in-person auctions drew an incredible audience of more than 3 million viewers and 1,000+ bidders from around the world. This can be attributed to the high-quality art contributed by regionally and nationally recognized artists and using an online platform that reaches the broadest possible audience.
The success of these auctions is due to the collective generosity of artists near and far, and we are excited to see what works are submitted for both the Art Auction and Big Names, Small Art (BNSA). To participate in what has truly become an international event, follow the submission instructions below.
Art Auction features a silent auction open to a global audience on Bidsquare, as well as an in-person Live Auction Event. Artists whose works are selected will be included in a special exhibition at the Crocker—on view May 26 to June 4, 2022—and be featured prominently in an Art Auction catalogue distributed to more than 10,000 households. Artists may choose to keep 50% of the proceeds from the sale of their work or donate 100% of the sale to the Museum. All artists donating 100% will receive recognition of the donation in the Art Auction catalogue and a complimentary Family level membership.
Big Names Small Art (BNSA) draws a large audience of new and seasoned art collectors. The event features a silent auction of small-scale pieces (all 12 x 12 inches or less). Each bid begins at $25, regardless of the work’s market value, which creates an environment of fast-paced, friendly competition. All proceeds from BNSA sales benefit the Crocker’s education programs and exhibitions. Artists must be 18 years or older to submit a work.
The silent auction and BNSA will be held virtually on Bidsquare, with bidding scheduled to open in mid-May and to close the weekend of June 4–5. In addition, a small selection of artworks will be featured in a socially distanced Live Art Auction Event at the Museum on Saturday, June 4.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. Your support of these events helps the Crocker bring exciting exhibitions and programs to Sacramento.
