This year's Art Auction Season has two virtual auctions, one live auction, and an exhibition. Bidding on all artworks begins May 10.
Featured Artists:
Shimo - Shimo is the owner of Shimo Center for the Arts. He is trained in painting and is a master of traditional Chinese blue-and-white porcelain. Shimo divides his time between Sacramento and China and serves as dean of fine arts at the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. His work is included in the collection of the Crocker Art Museum.
Gina Werfel - Gina Werfel is represented by Prince Street Gallery and has exhibited internationally. Werfel is a professor of art at the University of California, Davis, and her work is included in the collection of the Crocker Art Museum.
Peter Combe - Peter Combe is represented by K. Imperial Fine Art. His work is in the collections of the Crocker Art Museum, Delta Airlines, Home Depot, and Microsoft Corporation among others. Combe was selected for an award in the 2021 Crocker Kingsley Exhibition.
Geralyn Montano - Geralyn Montano’s work is included in the collections of the Crocker Art Museum, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and The Mexican Museum. Montano was nominated for the San Francisco Artist Award.
Bryan Valenzuela - Bryan Valenzuela has exhibited nationally including at Miami Basel for the Scope Art Fair. Valenzuela was awarded the Leff-Davis Grant for Emerging Artists, 2014; a commission by the City of Sacramento and the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission to create Multitudes Converge for the Golden 1 Center; and has received the Best in Show and the Jurors Award at the California State Fair Fine Arts Competition, 2015. He has completed public paintings and murals in New York, Napa, Malibu, and San Francisco.
Auctions:
- BIG NAMES, SMALL ART (BNSA) - A virtual, silent auction of more than 200+ small artworks (12 x 12 inches or smaller) with bidding on each starting at just $25, regardless of the work’s fair market value. Online bidding for BNSA begins May 10 on Bidsquare and ends Saturday, June 5, with one artwork closing every minute beginning at 1:00 PM.
- LIVE ART AUCTION - A festive, socially distanced event to be held outdoors in the Museum’s courtyard on the evening of Saturday, June 5. Table sponsorships at the in-person event start at $1,000, and the event includes a cocktail party, socially distanced al fresco dinner, and a live auction of 15 select original artworks by some of our region’s most sought-after artists. This event is SOLD OUT – if you are interested in joining the waitlist to purchase tickets, please email artauction@crockerart.org.
The Live Art Auction will also be livestreamed on the Bidsquare platform with real-time virtual bidding beginning at 8:30 PM. If you are unable to join in-person, there is still an opportunity to bid and win these works of art. Absentee bids may be placed HERE beginning May 10. - SILENT ART AUCTION - A virtual auction featuring 100+ original works of art by some of the region’s most renowned artists. Online bidding opens May 10 on Bidsquare and ends Sunday, June 6, with one artwork closing every minute beginning at 1:00 PM.
- ART AUCTION EXHIBITION - Will feature all Live Art Auction and Silent Art Auction works and will be on view at the Museum from Sunday, May 23 through Sunday, June 6.
