In his Alphabet series, American sculptor Fletcher Benton (1931–2019) folded, cut, and realigned sheets of steel into geometric forms that reveal abstract letters and numbers. This exhibition features 35 sculptures from this series, one for each letter of the alphabet, and one for numbers one through nine. Benton’s concept is deceptively simple, as the forms he creates are both intricate and complex, just as the ABCs and 123s are the building blocks of more complex written language and math.
