Photography
The Crocker Art Museum’s photography collection is international in scope and diverse in subject matter. Strengths of the collection are American photographs of the late 1800s and early 1900s, as well as straight, documentary, and street photography. Historic and contemporary images of the American West add to the rich history of the Museum and document Sacramento’s place within the development of California. A broad range of photographic media in the collection, from daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes, to albumen prints, gelatin silver prints, and digital prints, provide opportunities for engagement with a variety of artistic processes.
